July 10 – Gabriel Muresan, the former Romanian international midfielder and long-time CFR Cluj captain, has tragically passed away at the age of 44. Local authorities confirmed he drowned following an incident at a lake in Mureș County.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene near Apold, where Mureșan served as mayor. Despite resuscitation efforts by medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary reports suggest a potential thermal shock upon entering the water may have led to the tragedy.
